VALARKKAVU SREE DURGA BHAGAVATHI TEMPLE

Valarkavu Bhagavathi temple is an ancient Hindu temple which is situated in the Valarkkavu village of Thrissur district of Kerala.

The temple is mainly dedicated to the goddess Bhadarkali.

It is believed that Bhagavathi of Valarkkavu temple is the sister of the Kuttanellur Bhagavathi and the temple is situated about 4km away from the Valarkkavu Bhagavathi temple.

The bhagavathi of Valarkkavu temple Is famous for her divine powers and the temple also houses the sub deities such as lord Ayyappa, lord Ganesha, etc.

Major Festivals / Events

The Valarkkavu Bhagavathi temple is famous for its annual festival which is known as the Pooram festival and it is usually celebrated in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February).

The grand procession, cultural performance, and fireworks display are the key highlights of this festival. The festival is mainly dedicated to the goddess Bhagavathi.

Devotees from various parts of the city visit the temple on this Pooram to seek blessings from their goddess. The temple also has a wide range of offerings which includes special poojas, Thulabharam, archana, and abhishekam.

The temple is easily accessible to the devotees as it is situated in an area where the roads are well connected to the city and  the nearest railway station is Thrissur railway station which is just 2.5 km away from the temple and up to Valarkkavu sree durga Bhagavathi temple direct buses are available from there the devotees can walk or choose auto rickshaw for travelling.
