CHELAKKOTTUKARA SNDP SHIVA TEMPLE

Sree Chelakkottukara Sree Maheswara temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the Thrissur district of Kerala. The temple is also known as Chelakkottukara SNDP temple and the temple is under the SNDP yogam.

The supreme deity of the Chelakkottukara temple is lord Shiva and the idol is depicted in the meditative postur. This symbolizes the peaceful nature and tranquility of the lord.

The temple also worships the other sub-deities such as lord Ganesha, goddess Bhagavathy, lord Ayyappa, and Serpent deities.

The temple has a culture that celebrates various temple festivals. The Makayiram Mahotsavam celebration is considered the major festival of Chelakkottukara Shiva temple. Usually, the festival is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January-February).

Sivaratri celebrations also have great importance in Chelakkottukara temple and it is mainly dedicated to the lord Shiva, the supreme deity of the temple.

Devotees from far away offer prayers perform fasting throughout the day and seek blessings from their lord.

The temple is located about 3km away from the Thrissur town. The city is well connected with the roads and  the nearest railway station is Thrissur railway station which is just 2.5 km away from the temple and up to Chelakkottukara centre direct buses are available from there the devotees can walk or choose auto rickshaw for travelling.

Morning - 5.00 am to 10.30 pm

Evening  - 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm
