MUDAPPILAVU MAHAVISHNU TEMPLE
The Mudappilavu Mahavishnu temple is a revered Hindu temple mainly dedicated to the lord Mahavishnu, who is considered the protector and preserver of the universe.
The temple is located in the Chiyyaram village of the Thrissur district of Kerala and the place has rich historical and cultural significance.
The temple is also famous for the presence of the unique idol of the lord Mahavishnu.
Lord Ganesha, lord ayyappa, serpent deities and goddess Bhagavathi are also worshipped in mudappilavu temple in their separate sanctum sanctorum.
Major Festivals / Events
Vishu festival and the Navaratri festival are mostly celebrated festivals in Mudappilavu temple. The Vishu festival is mainly dedicated to the lord Mahavishnu and is considered the Malayalam New Year.
The Vishukkani and the Vishukaineettam are the key highlights of this Vishu festival. Navaratri celebrations last for around nine days and it is celebrated in September or October.
During the entire day, the goddess is worshipped by the devotees in her different forms.
The temple also has a wide variety of offerings which includes the offerings of Kadumpayasam, palpayasam, panakam,kadali pazham, etc.
The temple is easily accessible to the devotees, the city is well connected with the buses.
Direct buses are available till the Chiyyaram stop and from here the temple is situated within a walkable distance.
