Kanadikavu Vishnumaya Temple

Sree Kanadi Kavu Vishnumaya temple is an ancient and revered Hindu temple in the Peringottukara region of the Thrissur district of kerala.

The temple is mainly dedicated to the vishnumaya swami, also known as vishnumaya kuttichathan, the divine child of lord Shiva and goddess Parvathy.

The idol of lord vishnumaya is depicted in a form that riding the buffalo along with a wand and divine pot in his hands. The lord Ganesha,  Brahmarakshasu, and serpent deities are also worshipped in this temple as sub-deities.

Major Festivals / Events

The kanadi kavu sree vishnumaya temple is famous for its thiru vellattu and thottampattu festivals. Devotees from far gather in the temple for seeking blessings from their lord.

Thiruvellattu festival is celebrated as a part of the birthday of the Vishnu Maya Kuttichathan and it is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Makaram.

Thottam Pattu Mahotsavam is another festival that is widely celebrated in Kanadi Kavu Vishnumaya temple. the festival is mainly dedicated for the Bhuvaneswari devi, considered as the mother goddess of the temple.

drawing the structure of the goddess in floor using the natural colours, decorating the idol of the goddess are the key highlights of this festival. Guruthi pooja, raktha Pushpanjali, and kalam Pattu are the important offerings of this temple.

The temple is located around 5km away form the main city but direct buses are available up to the peringottukara region.
