PERINGOTTUKARA VISHNUMAYA TEMPLE

The Peringottukara Vishnumaya temple is a revered Hindu temple in the Peringottukara region of the Thrissur district of Kerala. The temple is also known as Peringottukara Devasthanam.

The temple is unique and special in all the aspects of the temple rituals and customs. The temple is mainly dedicated to the lord Vishnumaya and the Bhuvaneswari Devi. The lord Vishnumaya is believed as the divine child of lord Shiva and goddess Parvati and the idol of Vishnumaya is depicted riding the buffalo posture alone while holding a wand and divine pot.

The temple also worships lord Ganesha, Brahmarakshasu, and Kukshikalpa samadhi as the sub-deities of the temple.

Major Festivals / Events

Thiravellattu is considered the most significant festival of this Peringottukara Vishnumaya temple. It is an annual festival and the celebrations last around nine days.

The Kalamezhuthum Pattu is another unique festival that is celebrated during the months of Karkidakam and Vrishchikam. Drawing the structure of the lord on the floor using natural colors and products and decorating the lord’s idol are the key highlights of this festival.

Thottam Pattu is another unique festival that is dedicated to the Bhuvaneswari devi, considered as the mother of the temple.

The temple is easily accessible for the devotees and direct buses are available from the Thrissur town to peringottukara. The nearest railway is Thrissur railway station which is located about 15km away from the peringottukara.
